Create a Background in CorelDraw

When you create a new custom template or page, CorelDraw opens with the page or template sized according to the zone size.

If your output is a web system you must select a background for the template or page.

If your output is Audience.playback.tv or Audience.playback.sign, you do not need to create a background; you can simply exit Corel immediately to create a completely transparent (alpha) page, or you can insert fields (text, graphics) over an alpha background.

There are three main types of backgrounds:

  • Alpha Background (not suppored on web-based systems).
  • Zone Background;
  • Solid Colour Background (required for Crawls in web-based systems);
  • Photos as Backgrounds;
  • Textured Background; and

Photos and textures may also be used as backgrounds.

The Background icon in CorelDraw is for solid backgrounds in a page with a crawl transition only (applicable to web-based systems). For all other types of background, use the Import Image tool or create a rectangle the size of the zone and fill with colour.
